Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton,

Thank you for your email dated April 24, 2008. The Department is still investigating two alternatives, a fixed bridge and a swing span bridge, for the new bridge type for Naples. Both of these options will have an increase in elevation of 5 to 7 feet above the existing grade. In either case, this would put the new finish grade (surface of the bridge) at or around the top of the entry door of the existing operator house. At this point the approaches for a swing span bridge would extend approximately 450 feet in each direction. The limits of a fixed span bridge are approximately the same towards Windham, but have not been fully established towards Bridgton. The Department is working diligently to maintain safety and reduce impacts, vehicular, pedestrian, and marine, due to the transitions required for a higher bridge. Landscaping and streetscaping are also involved with each alternative.

Thank you again for your email.
